The "Poster Boy" takes not 2 but 3 Gold Medals home.

Tuesday of Last week, during a class, Tyler had got punched in the face near his eye, leaving the whole cheekbone area quite sore.  His fear was that the bone may be chipped or fractured, hence a no show for the tournament was a possibility.

After spendng 4 hours of xrays and eye tests, at the hospital on Friday with results of "Nothing to worry about - just bruising", Tyler informed his TKD Master, Mr. Ron Sparks, that he would be participating. ( I think we sensed a smile over the phone.)

Saturday morning - Participate he did!  (I cannot upload alot of the pictures as I don't have permission from people who appear in the photos...so I can only do ones of Ty and those who said okay.)

In a large class of blue belts, mostly female, all can compete for patterns as it's not physical.

Total concentration and control of every move.  He is beautiful to watch

White boys can jump!

and land ever so gracefully
End of Pattern
Tyler takes Gold in Patterns - Judge R.Sparks
With only 2 boys in the blue belt division - where co-ed sparring is not permitted, the 2 boys were asked if they wanted to compete against the boys that were a level up than them.  Both boys said "Why Not"

The first Sparring round

These 2 boys caught the eyes of more spectators than those watching the black belt division. The fight was nonstop contact and all out sparring.  Nothing was held back.

Receiving the Gold in Sparring from his very own Sabhidum Ron Sparks
(5th degree Black Belt - we call him Sir!)
Tyler gets Gold in Sparring, and the other Blue belt, Julien, receives the Silver.

After the match, Tyler was approached by Sir and Judge R. Sparks to see if he would be interested in sparring in the Men's Division Red Belt double black stripe (yes... that is one stripe away from Black Belt) ... to my surprise, he said yes.  I shook my head in like "Are you kidding me?"....  I followed my son to the ring, sick to my stomach.

First Man to spar with - With a loose fitting helmet, Tyler punched it off his head 3 times!

Total control with legs - kicks... He amazes me.  The 2 men in back are the other contenders
The Woman and child is the Man's Wife and Daughter

Sparring the big "Australian" Mick! - Gramma in background seems to be enjoying this a little too much - Again.... the white kid can jump!

These 2 never let up.  This is for the Gold!
In a normal situation, if the judge sees any punching of the face, especially where blood is drawn, the one that hit the person gets disqualified... however, no one seen the punch as Mick and Tyler were both in the corner of the ring, just a swinging.

A decision is made not to continue the last seconds  A talley is done.  The points are tied from the 2 judges in the corners of the ring.  In a normal situation, they would go another 30 seconds but with the blood still coming out of the nose, Judge R. Sparks awards both with Gold.

Both get the Gold - Tyler holding bloody napkin... these 2 are exhausted!
